This is my first time on here.

I had my surgery on 3/25/14 which makes it a week as of yesterday. I have to be honest. It was much more difficult or at least different than I expected. I feel as if they warn you about text book feelings post op but not realistic ones. I wish I had a head up on the fact I was going to feel every sip from my throat until it hit my stomach. Or at least a warning that my sense of smell and taste would 180. Other than a few bumps in the road here and there everything has been going fairly well. I'm up and moving and in the first week I'm down 15lbs!!

Congrats on a successful start post-op! I went through the haywire taste buds thing soon after surgery. Every flavor had to be double strong for it to taste good, but that went away after a week or so. The good part was that I started liking (healthy) foods that I wouldn't touch pre-surgery.

Welcome!

It's quite a roller coaster to begin with but some normalcy comes back soon. The changes down the road are going to make you smile a lot!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
