Steph W-O 75 Posted April 2, 2014 I'm 7 weeks post-op today. For the last 3-5 days, I've been waking up and feeling dehydrated. My fingers feel a little swollen and my urine is dark yellow. I've been very thirsty too. I have not changed my diet or exercise during this time and I always get at least 64oz Water each day (usually more). What could be going on ? Recycled 2,182 Posted April 2, 2014 If your always very thirsty, start by drinking more and see what happens. 1 Steph W-O reacted to this
BigGirlPanties 957 Posted April 2, 2014 yes, start by drinking more... if you are not doing better, check with your doctor... do you take Probiotics? some cause dry mouth, etc for people... I cannot use them, they do me WRONG ... so I went back to Miralax to help with my "problem" 1 Steph W-O reacted to this
NMJG 1,266 Posted April 3, 2014 Sometimes 64 oz is not enough. It isn't for me. I usually have 16 oz of herbal tea at bedtime and I still have dark urine in the morning since surgery. Weird. 1 Steph W-O reacted to this
Seela 1,187 Posted April 3, 2014 I personally had to increase to 80 oz or more to not feel dehtdrated. It's hard but it gets easier with time.
Teachamy 1,042 Posted April 3, 2014 I would go to your doc. and ask for a simple urine test. They can "dip" your urine to make sure you're not spilling any evidence of infection, glucose, or Protein. If you're drinking 64 oz. a day, it seems odd to me that your urine is dark. You probably are just one of those people who require more than 64 oz., but I think it's a good idea to err on the side of caution and rule out everything else. Good luck! 2 Steph W-O and BigGirlPanties reacted to this
Steph W-O 75 Posted April 3, 2014 Thanks, everyone. Sounds like this could be completely normal but am following up with my doctor just to be sure. I'll keep you posted! 1 BigGirlPanties reacted to this
wendybringhurstakrealtor 10 Posted April 3, 2014 Maybe your Vitamins are causing the dark urine color?
Debi Amador 120 Posted April 3, 2014 Are you getting to much sodium or salt? 1 Steph W-O reacted to this
Steph W-O 75 Posted April 3, 2014 (edited) I saw my doc today. He says that I'm back in ketosis. He says that I've lost so much weight so quickly that it was inevitable. I've lost 18% of my body weight in two months, which is apparently very fast. I'm doing well, so he told me to keep on chugging along! Thank you all very your feedback and suggestions!!!
