Surgery tomorrow...ahh, the nerves!

Recommended Posts

Well, tomorrow at this time, I should be in the operating room. It's crazy to realize that this day is actually almost here!

I've had such an influx of emotions the past few days. My anxiety, worries and fears have really increased. I've worried about post op complications, losing too much weight and getting wrinkly and looking much older, not losing enough weight, losing too much hair, and about a million other worries. I don't know why I'm doing this to myself! Trying to keep my mind busy today and get all ready for tomorrow. Best of luck to everyone, and if you think of it, please say a prayer for me (and my nerves!!) Thanks!

That was me 2 weeks ago!!! I ended up kinda going into auto mode and not think about it. Did my normal routines as best as I could and extra housework to keep busy. The day of, I was totally fine.

I had the same worries but I decided that being healthy, active, being able to reach my feet, not having pressure incontinence and living longer were worth losing my hair, being wrinkly and having extra skin!

Hair grows back, everyone gets wrinkly and there's always plastic surgery.

I am having my surgery Friday and my nerves are starting to kick in. I don't really care about the skin cause I am planning on getting that fixed along with a new pair of knockers. I am a DDD and the first place I loose weight is in my chest. I just don't want tube socks for boobs. But that being said I am so excited to get healthy and to get this fat off of me! I rather look like I am melting than be the butterball I am now! :) Good Luck to you!!

My surgery is Friday and I have pushed all of that negative talk out of my head by focusing on a couple of things:

1. If I don't do this, I imagine myself in ten years; bigger, sadder and in much worse shape with tem wasted years where I could have been active and enjoying my life.

2. I window shop on clothing websites that sell clothes WITHOUT plus sizes!!!!!!!!! Soon, I will be wearing clothes that can be purchased in REGULAR stores!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and so will you!!!!!!!!!!!!! This surgery has the least complications both short and long term. You are going to ROCK this. Besides, most people get baggy as they get older ;) Who cares!!!! Be well and good luck! I'm right behind you :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
