Yikes, I'm getting my appetite back and that makes me nervous! I'm almost 3 weeks post-op and I could eat just about anything! I don't want to gain ALL the weight back I've already lost. I realize I may gain some back but I don't want to start from scratch again. Any thoughts??

try drinking more Water too, if you get the feeling like you are hungry, sometines you mistake it for dehydration. It might help, plus ,alot of Dr.'s only put the band on without any tightening, because you swell alot, so you will need to get a fill about 1-2 month post -operative. Hope this is helpful...Congrats on getting banded!

Eat low carb with lots of raw veggies for bulk.

I had the same problem, only worse... I had my "last supper syndrome" AFTER the surgery. (Count of me to do everything back@$$wards)

I was so worried that I would "Never be able to eat ___ again" that I went a little nuts eating all my favorite foods. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid.

First - I did in fact weigh a half pound higher at my first fill than I did at surgery. Doh!

Second - TO THIS DAY there is still nothing that I cannot eat. bread - no problem. Pasta? Uh huh. pizza? Yeppers - I can eat it all in small quanities. So I was TWICE the idiot - cause I didn't need to roll around in my food at all.

Don't make my mistake. Exercise. Stay on Plan. Drink lots of Water. Even if all you do is maintain what you have already lost - you will be pounds ahead of me...

Good Luck!!!

I'll be on the mushie stage next week. But right now I feel as though I could eat anything. I've been living off Protein Drinks, mashed potato and squash. I know I shouldn't have done this but I had one of those 100 calorie packs of chips ahoy Cookies. I can't tell you how good they tasted!!! I was in heaven!!! I'm going through the head hunger at the moment!

I am in the same boat!!!! I'm going into my 3rd week post op and I can eat just about anything (but I'm not)

my stomache rumbles and growls at me all the time.. I'm drinking tea, and crytal lite during the day.. its like my body is telling me what time to drink, and what time to eat!!! Its weird.

Banded on the 6th of March, just had my first fill on April 4th. I had pretty well a similar experience as far as appetite is concerned!

I lost about 25 lbs originally but have been stuck at a plateau since one week after the surgery! My doctor told me not to worry about it that it was normal! And also I gathered from this forum that most of the weight loss comes after a fill or two or three! If you can maintain the status quo for a while just count your blessings I guess! :)

You are in what they call Bandster Hell. You don't have restriction until you get fills. The swelling is going down from surgery and you are wide open. Its like having a car to go places in, but no gasoline. Until you fill er up you can eat anything. DON't.

You will need to exercise great control at this stage. Keep a good dose of fear with you of eating foods you know you shouldn't. It will be over soon. There is great risks to eating foods you should not. You can do damage.

Good luck

My friends, I was banded 3/21/07. I feel little to no restriction---in fact, I often feel hunger. NOT head-hunger, but real, physiological hunger. I am trying to control my eating and I am drinking a lot to try to feel satisfied. I cannot wait for my first fill and the feeling of restriction that is the reason I had this surgery ! Barbara465: You're right, this is Bandster hell ! HELP! ADVICE, PLEASE ! ENCOURAGEMENT ! :)

Hi Berry,

I am getting my appetite back too...aargh!!! Good thing that I am going in for my first fill on Monday 4/9--which is a month after my surgery. For what I have been reading on the posts--this may be too soon. When is your doctor doing your first fill?

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
