Joyful1 0 Posted April 6, 2007 Daffodil: I have one question, and it may seem like a silly question so forgive me now.....but WHY did you get banded if you were able to loose from 350 to 278 :clap2: before surgery. Why not keep doing what you were doing?:help: I have tried almost every thing in the universe to lose weight and last year when I tried LA-WL and only loss 10 lbs in 5 months, that I knew I need to think about something else. But if I had loss 70 lbs, I would not consider anything else.

SaggiJ 2 Posted April 6, 2007 OH YES, BANDSTER HELL. I remember that so well. Except that at that time no one explaint that to me. I didnt even know there is this support website until 3months donw the line. I was banded in Sept 06. Lose 1 stone within 1 1/2 week, and put back all of the 1 stone by end of the 1st month. I was pulling my hair by then. It took 5 fills before 1 lose the 1st stone and went down another stone.
Syrah 0 Posted April 6, 2007 You people are scaring me! My doctor told me that I would feel restriction after the surgery and before the first fill and that most people lose (on average) about 15 pounds from surgery-to-1st fill. I really hope that's true. I am one week, one day post-banding and I am just venturing past liquids to mushies. I am starting to feel a few hunger pangs and I'm not happy about that. I really, really like NOT feeling hungry. That's one reason I loved the idea of the band. If I'm not hungry, I don't eat or think about food too much.
juliegeraci 7 Posted April 6, 2007 Syrah, I don't want to scare you that is not my intention. I don't know why your surgeon told you that. It is very common for hunger to come back full force in a few weeks after being banded and with no restriction. So if you start to get hungry it can happen. That being said, you may be one of the lucky ones and not have it return before your first fill. Either way, you just need to know it can happen both ways. juliegeraci 7 Posted April 6, 2007 Shelbellz222, you should eat your hard Protein first. That will keep you from getting hungry more often. I made the mistake of eating too soft of a diet and I really paid for it. So make sure you are eating solid protein. Second, if you are still starving and can eat a substantial amount of food you need a fill. Don't be scared to ask for a fill if you have these symptoms. SD Chick 0 Posted September 8, 2007 I am in lap band hell at this time - can't really say I am hungry but am eating too much and not loosing - I am to go to have my first fill next week and am embarrased that I have only lost what I did before I started eating solids. I am anxious to go for that first fill!
legster 2 Posted September 8, 2007 Your Dr. will be happy that you lost some after surgery. Don't sweat it. They know how hard this period is. Don't be too hard on yourself. Good luck and be careful with that first fill.
