Please tell me the 2 week liquid diet might possibly be the hardest part?

Recommended Posts

I think it is mainly a mental thing, but it is really hard. I'm just at the beginning.

This gets better as long as you are strict. If you are, it'll get 'easier' after 3/4 days. If not strict, you start the three days over again!

And it's 2 weeks, the surgery is Forever! Your behaviors must change forever too!

You have to use a lot more willpower in the two weeks before surgery. The two weeks after surgery are tougher in a different way.

I can tell you that the pre-op diet was the hardest part for me. I was mentally suffering every moment of it. Post-surgery, I never felt the same way about food again. The obsession and cravings for food completely went away. If I had to do the pre-op diet again, it would be a breeze - just because I don't "need" to eat certain flavors anymore.

Hang in there, I promise that a few weeks after surgery you'll look back and wonder why you thought the pre-op diet was such a challenge.

Yes, as TexasMeg stated, the two weeks after surgery will be tougher in another way. You will need to look deep within yourself and find the strength you need to begin this journey correctly starting right now. Ask yourself and write down the reasons you are doing this! Remind yourself of those reasons every time it gets tough. You are not alone, many of us have traveled this same road...if we can do u can too!! It will get easier, and make sure you have a good support system at home to help you along the way, it makes things much easier...trust me!! Remember this process is to start your body on a new way of eating and thinking to help prepare it for the next stage to come. The more disciplined you are now, the easier it will be later on to continue this discipline in other ways. Be tough, you can get through this leg of the journey :)

It is. At least for me. I managed to lose like 12lb on it. When I was doing it I thought "as soon as I eat anything I am going to gain the weight right back." Not true. After the surgery you cann't eat like you use to so you will not gain that weight back. Point being, take advantage of that fact.

I feel that the liquid diet is a great way to really see where your head is at. My surgery is Friday and I have had some internal battles these past 2 weeks. The head hunger is the worst especially at night so I just keep myself busy. This diet will be just a blur in time. After everything else that I have been through to get to this point, post-op living will be a breeze! I wish you luck with your surgery. :)

Im glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks it's harder at night. I used to be able to go all day without eating and then at night I would stuff my face! Not good, I'm glad this surgery will be a helpful tool to teach me when and how to eat.

Thank you everyone for your kind words of encouragement. I have the greatest support at home. My husband and children are really into bodybuilding and my son is going to school to be a personal trainer, so they have been really helpful with trying to make sure I get the best tasting Proteins and telling me what I can ad in for a little flavor. They have warned me about how angry I'm going to be while the carbs are being depleted from my body. They are so great! I love my family! I know I can do this and be successful. I am excited and nervous for the future.

I'm 8 months out. The pre was the hardest for me. Afterwards you can only take in little so your full which make wanting to eat not a priority. It is weird how it works but trust me it does. Having a support system is important.

Seeing you user name are also horse fans:-). My fur family. Where are you located?

Thanks so much for the encouragement. I am almost 7 days down on the liquids and 7 to go. I want a meal so bad and keep trying to quit and reschedule for September (also because of travel plans). I keep thinking I have 2 weeks on liquid after surgery too and it makes me really nervous. Hearing you say it is easier after really helps. I had a slip up and ate popcorn last night at a movie, so I have to call my doctors office tomorrow and see what they say. I'm sure it will be fine, hearing how a lot of people just have a few days on liquid. How long before you were eating normal food and Protein? Anyway, yes we have horses. Both my daughters barrel race and I used too, but refuse to now because of my weight. My daughters are way excited for me to start competing with them (if my back allows) as soon as I lose some lbs. I am in Utah.

I barrel race at 51 for fun. I race with friends that compete in rodeos n such. I'm in Washington state on the coast. I liquid for 10 days my choice but my surgeon said 2 days was plenty. I had 90-100 to lose. I did the sleeve in July 13. Don't stop....it is so worth it!! I reschedule prior from the fear. After the surgery I realized how fear can control a person. You will not regret it promise you. How much are you looking to lose?

I am at 252 right now (have lost 7 in the last week) I haven't talked to my doctor about it yet, but I think my goal is 155? I am 5'8. Thank you so much for your encouragement. It really helps hearing it from your prospective since you've been through it. How long before you ate your Protein instead of drinking it? haha. We do a lot of barrel races local and we travel a lot with my youngest daughter for High School Rodeo.

The pre-op liquid diet was the hardest part for me. After surgery, I was on liquids for 2 weeks, then began to progress my diet. I wasn't hungry, though, and didn't have the cravings. My entire relationship with foods have changed.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
