. Usually the surgeon requires bloodwork, urine test and chest X-ray. Then you have your final pre op visit with doc and dietician. They should have the results so they can discuss at final pre op.

. Oh and the h. Pylori breath test and EKG. I did all but the chest X-ray with my primary doctor. it seems a lot but I had it all done in a 20 minute doc appt.

The chest xray they've given me a paper to take and various locations to go and the blood work I just did. Might have to go again. The lady who drew the blood said no and the lady in the office told me it expires in 2 months and I have 3 1/2 months to go so I don't know.

. Typically they want bloodwork/EKG/chest X-ray within a few weeks prior to surgery but I'm sure they will let u know!! Goodluck the next 3.5 months- it will go fast!!

My surgery is in two weeks and I went today for an EKG, chest xray, abd ultrasound, barium swallow test, and lab work. I had the H. Pylori test in office with my last consult. I do not have anything else to do except start the liquid diet on Friday and do it for 10 days.

I had to do blood work, urinalysis, chest x-ray, and an EKG at the hospital that I will be having my surgery at. I will not see my surgeon again until the day of.

I had blood work, chest X-ray and a pulmonary function test the day before surgery. I took that day off plus 3 weeks for recovery. Please take as much time as possible to recover.

This is what my surgeon's office has on their pre op testing sheet:

Chest X-ray - must be within 6 months of surgery EKG - must be within 30 days of surgery- I have to do again

Lab work- within 30 days of surgery

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
