Two weeks of clear liquid ????????????

Recommended Posts

Okay, so I had the VSG on Monday the 24th...I'm on Clear Liquids for 14 days...I'm on day 7...I'm slowly losing my sanity because i can't leave the house until my post op visit this Thursday..I've tried a few different broths which nauseated me so much (beef and chicken boullion cubes boiled in Water and low sodium organic chicken broth) the smell and taste turns my stomach like you wouldn't believe...have any of you had strained wonton Soup broth without the stuff in it? Or even homemade/diner chicken soup broth strained? Please let me know..I'm dyinnng over here lol! I'm so miserable ????????????????

I added lots of pepper to my broth. Honestly I'm on day 6 and only had broth once I'm not a fan of it either.

Can you do SF popcicles? I would say 100% strained would be OK, but I would just double check with your NUT or surgeon to be sure.

You'll get through this girlfriend! I'm 7 months PO and honestly don't even remember those hell weeks! Totally worth it :)

Simmer the broth with dried rosemary and thyme and add a tsp. of Better than Bouillon. It tastes delicious that way.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions, my NUT just called me back ( feels so funny to call my nutritionist a nut haha) and she said yes to the broth from wonton Soup and homemade/restaurant chicken soup! Thank you baby Jesus! Lol! And yes I can have SF ice pops :) xo

Update! My parents brought home chicken Soup from the diner, I strained it through a very fine hole strainer and it went down beautifully and I am satisfied for the first time since surgery lol...I think the next 7 days of clear liquids will be more tolerable :)

Unsweetened applesauce has been my go to strangely enough, it's the only thing that has satisfied me so far so I'm afraid to try anything else.

Omg I thought I was the only one! The smell of the broth reminds me of my puppies food and just turns my stomach. I'm going to have my hubby get me my fav chicken Soup at the market and strain it otherwise I won't be able to eat and starve :( Thank goodness this phase is almost over!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
