Jeanne14 14 Posted March 31, 2014 I'm 1 week post-op and have had no nausea until last night. Everything has been going great for me, no problems until now. Nausea interrupted my sleep and I am still nauseous this morning. I want to try to avoid vomiting, but I'm not sure what to do. I am afraid to eat right now. is there something "over the counter" I can safely take? Does anyone know what this might be/why this happened? Thanks
Teachamy 1,042 Posted March 31, 2014 You may be dehydrated. Try drinking and make sure you get in as much as possible. Your doc. can also prescribe some anti-nausea meds, or you can call a pharmacist and ask what they suggest for OTC. Good luck!
Jeanne14 14 Posted March 31, 2014 I have been getting my 64 ounces of Water in. I'm wondering if it's because I took my Prevacid too late last night. Anyway I did put a call into my doctors office and I'm waiting for response. Thanks for the advice.
JoJoV23 11 Posted March 31, 2014 Empty stomach can do that too! Try having something very plain.
Jeanne14 14 Posted March 31, 2014 I think it may have been Constipation. Anyone ever get nauseous from constipation?
MetroDetroitChic 86 Posted March 31, 2014 I think it may have been Constipation. Anyone ever get nauseous from constipation? OMG yes... bigtime. When that happens to me I try some Miralax and some Water. Usually feel a bit worse then TONS better. Hope you are feeling better soon!
Jeanne14 14 Posted March 31, 2014 I just spoke with the Nurse Practitioner and she confirmed that the nausea could definitely be because of Constipation.< /p> She recommended taking Metamucil and a stool softener daily and if there is no bowel movement within a few days, then take a laxative like Ducolax. Thank you everyone for your help!! I really appreciate the quick responses.
