I am planning on going to Dr. Rodriguez in Acuna also. Would really like to hear from those who have used him.

A really great team of doctors and staff, I have lost 250 pounds and have received excellent care. I recommend dr. G and his team for anyone looking for complete care before and AFTER your surgery. They are in Tijuana, Mexico. 5 minutes from the US Mexico border on the other side of San Diego. Check out his thread: Has anyone heard of dr. Francisco Gonzalez?

I had the best medical experience of my life in Mexico. Dr. Rumbaut is banded as you probably know. Its so cool to talk to a doc that understands. He also one of the most experienced lap band docs in the western hemisphere....The hospital was clean and more hi tech than the hospital in my home town. There are many Mex docs that have good reps...I wish you well and its very wise of you to do your research. I was banded 10-12-06 and am almost at goal.

Thanks. That is very sweet. I had my band re-done by Dr Billy here in Ventura last Jan. In May I had all my fill removed because I am pregnant. I am due in Jan and will get back on the program after I have the baby. It is so weird having NO restriction! I went 4 years having to think carefully about every ounce of food that went in my mouth. Is there a bathroom near by in case something gets stuck etc....Now, it is very strange to eat bread and all the things I couldn't eat before.

I went from 220lbs to around 164lbs once. I will do it again!

Thanks again!

Christine

I am so sorry for your troubles. I know you are in good hands now! Dr. Billy is my aftercare surgeon ..I sure am glad I found him.

Has anybody heard about Dr. Lopez Corvala at the Angeles Hospital?.. is he reliable?

I was banded 6 weeks ago by Dr. Corvala. He is a great surgeon and the hospital was amazing. I am not impressed with his follow up care. I sent them an email 4 weeks ago and no response. If you want a Dr that is going to give you immediate follow up attention I would not choose him.

There were several people on my floor when I was there that had Dr. Kuri do their surgery and I actually got to talk to him. If I had to do it over again I would use Dr. Kuri rather than Dr. Corvala.

I was banded Jan 2006 by Rumbaut & his team in Monterrey. It was a very good experience, and about half of what the local bariatric surgeon charges. The local group is not eager to take on aftercare for patients they did not operate on, but Rumbaut had a couple of other resources within an hour or two drive. If you are self-pay, or live in an area where lap-band costs are high, I would consider Rumbaut at the top of the list.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
