Only a week and a half so just on Protein Drinks, yoghurt, Soups, etc, but even on my pre-op diet it ended up being about 47-52% Protein, 30% carbs

The info packet the doctor sent home with me said 75% Protein 25% good carbs. Now, I'm not going to lie and say I stick to that, but I do try and limit myself to only 100 - 200 calories of sugar a day. During my 1st 10 months I stuck religiously to the guidelines. But now that I'm eating more than 1000 calories a day, getting the most nutrition out of every bite isn't as critical. :-).

My nutritionist said Protein and carbs should be at a 1:1 ratio in order to avoid malnutrition. She said 40% protein, 40% carbs and 20% fat. I'm not saying I agree, but that's the guideline I was provided.

How do you get 20% fat with a high Protein diet. I've never figured that out! It's frustrating!

My original plan was around 40% Protein, 40% carb, and 20% fat. Nowadays I have my carbs and fats switched and shoot for much lower carbs and much higher fats. Seems to be working. Even at 40% carbs, though, it was 60 g a day max.

Thanks everyone!

I wanted to change my nutrition goals in My Fitness Pal to reflect what I should be eating.

In the early stages the goal was 75% Protein and 25% carbs but as I get farther away from my surgery date I'm finding that unrealistic to keep up with.

Before I started this thread I set mfp at 40-40-20. If I'm eating 900 calories/day that's 90g-90g-20g.

So my next question is....how many calories per day are you eating (or did you eat from 3-6 months out)?

My NUT said 1000 calories/day to lose, 1200 to maintain. I've been sticking to that. Other people say lower calories. Perhaps that's why I'm not losing as fast as I would want. But, I feel as though I need to stay satisfied every day or I'll go nuts and eat everything in site. :)

I'm trying to stick to 900-1000 per day.

Im 6 months next week and just worry about 1000 cals a day and my Protein goal. I used to worry about carbs and fat but not anymore.

For me, its about finding balance with the food I eat.

65% fat, 30% Protein, 5% carbs and trying to stay between 700-950 calories a day.

By tracking you can find that calories range were you continue to lose weight. For me 1100 and I stop losing

That makes sense. It's simple and if you focus on protein and 1000 cals, the rest will fall into place.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
