I am only been on this site two weeks and I love it. I have learned so much. My surgery was two months ago today and I have only lost 20 pounds but it is ok. I loss 85 pounds with the band and was happy until stopped working and I needed a second port change. My insurance wouldn't pay so I decided to go to Mexico for surgery. I paid the same for the revision and sleeve as I would have paid for the port. I am a NP and I realized doctors don't give enough information. I stopped taking my PPI but after getting on this site realized that was a mistake. I am now taking the medication and think I see a difference.

Hi Robbie.lytle07, congratulations on your progress so far, and for making the decision to have the revision surgery. Like you, I am also converting from the lap-band to the sleeve, but I do not have my revision surgery scheduled yet; however just received the news on Friday that the insurance approval is in. Just waiting for my surgeon's office coordinator to contact me to finalize and schedule. I got my lap band 11/1/10, and did not experience any "problems" other than the fact that I just didn't lose weight. I had almost 8 cc's of saline in my band, and due to being so full, could hardly get anything down.. but still did not lose. I am hoping things will be very different when I get the sleeve surgery. Best of luck to you.

There was no sleeve when I had the band. I am blessed I didn't have any problems and had the weight loss. When I had the sleeve I was only 40 pounds from what the doctor want me to lose. I will be happy with 30 to 35 pounds. I am reading it is slower coming off when closer to goal. I feel good about having the sleeve now.

I divorced my band on 3/19 and was revised to a sleeve. It's funny how different the protocols and diets are between them! I lost 50 with the band before it slipped. They unfilled it completely and I went a little nuts before surgery (and gained). I have lost 15 in the last week but I'm still not down to my lowest that I got to with the band. In really hoping I start to see results soon!! Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
