weight watchers?

Doddie that's awful! You have to wonder sometimes if they actually train these leaders to do more than read that week's "lesson" amd use a scale. They really should have training in people skills.

Sorry that happened to you.

If you know the group to be helpful, then maybe you should go. Personally, though, I got my band and vowed to never diet gain!!! And I haven't. I don't think you need a group to tell you to pick a chicken breast instead of a big mac. I do realize though that some WW groups are better than others. I have never been to a good one. If it's just modivation you need then just come here, it's cheaper!!:)

If I could go to the TLBC support meetings, I would be there, but since that is not possible, Weight watchers gives me some structure.

Besides I like the stickers ! I do work with 5 year olds haha

Hey Cloe, what you said is an inspiration to me and givin your success thus far it's totally working for you. Can you explain how you do it? Is the band giving you enough restriction that you need alot less will power? I have had one fill and can't even feel an evidence of the band being in there. So I guess the reassurence that eventially something will happen helps.:)

Hi Susansilver: Thanks, it was a terrible crusher to me. Just the perfect "excuse" to hurt myself all over again. Don't know why overweight people hurt themselves with eating when you know it wasn't your fault. Anyway, I find my band the perfect friend. It talks to me when I overeat and remains quiet when I behave myself. As I am an emotional eater, It is a silent reminder that to hurt myself by overeating is not the solution. Now, if I could just exercise more........darn. Doddie.

Thanks Astrotoes: I find the people on the web a lot more helpful and encouraging than any group such as WW that are there to make a profit. I know it helps many people and I wish them well, but the weightloss industry is not there to make us successful, they are there to make money for the shareholders. The originator of WW and her wonderful idea of support has long gone and WW has been sold many times over to conglomerates. I am very grateful that there are some doctors out there that believe overweight people need help and are trying to do something about it. Here ends the lesson. Sorry I was preaching but I wish more people in my circumstances had access to this band. Again thanks for the support. Doddie:violin:

Hi astrotoes, to answer your question, yes. I do have enough restriction to not have to worry too much. I can now litterally only eat 3/4 to 1 cup of food. Thats all I can eat!! I usually would like to eat more, but with time that's getting better. I do however, every few weeks or so have a day when I can eat more, (the finicky thing), but even being able to eat more, it's no comparison to what I use to eat. But mostly I'm doing good to get enough food into me, I have to pick high quality foods.

Thats why I said WW wouldn't work for me, but if it works for others, then I say great!!

Doddie, I can totally relate. Those kind of comments never leave us. Why, I don't know. I remember my grandmother taking me to a WW meeting when I was about 13. All the old ladies(well I thought they were old ladies) were going on and on...'oh yes, you need to lose 7 lbs', huh???? I'll never understand, that was probably the beginning of the end for me.

Anyhow, we march on, and one day as were marching we'll step on those comments!!!

Hi Yasmina,

I was at the last TLBC Support Group meeting and they talked about trying set up net meeting/internet accessibility (sorry I'm a bit techno-challenged so I can't explain it too well) for people who are unable to attend meetings in person, though unfortunately do not know if they have a time frame for that. Give TLBC a call maybe they can give you more info!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
