Quick question, has anyone on here had the sleeve and lost too much weight and still eat very very very little even 6 months out? Can the surgeon do surgery to try and stretch your stomach?

Nope he can not. But you would be instructed to take in more calories ( good calories ) and eat more times a day if the weight continued to fall off. Our bodies will stabilize at its own size whether we think it is right or not. As long as you are eating properly and drinking the Water and exercising. The body will do the rest.

There are people on here that have lost a lot more weight then they thought they would and are staying at that weight. It is maintenance. Others have stayed at a weight that is higher then they desired but the body once again runs the show.

:)

My sleeve was very tight from the beginning. I was struggling to get in 400-600 calories a day! Working with my nutritionist, we decided 5-6 smaller meals a day would be best for me. I also have hypoglycemia, so the more frequent meals help that too. I am now 8 months out and can eat a round 1100 calories a day getting in anywhere from 80-100 grams of Protein. Everybody is different. My husband had gastric bypass 2 months after me and can eat twice as much at a meal than I can! I consider it a blessing. I don't ever want to be able to eat like I could before. Keeps me in check!! ;)

Thanks so much for this fresh perspective. I can barely get 2-3 bites in every time I try to eat, which can be a little frustrating. But you're right, it's keeping me in check. Thanks again. :)

You can often get what is known as a stricture. This is where the opening to the reduced stomach is a little tighter than it should be. They can do a couple of procedures to stretch this a little bit - to ease the entry of food. As for the stomach size - it is what it is after surgery.

If someone is not eating hardly anything, particularly solids, a person may need to go and get it checked.

Strictures can be stretched using bougies in surgery. You may or may not have one. One thing that's likely, the longer times goes on, the more likely you will be able to hold more.

Thanks everyone for your info. I try to eat 5-6 small meals a day but just can't. I'll have two poached yolks on toast with crust off for Breakfast and then can eat almost all of a small quiche (bit smaller then a pie) have some crackers in the afternoon and then if I'm lucky 1/3 cup of meat and veg or something. Had a down day yesterday as I caught gastro off of my kids and was sick all Saturday night and very tired and couldn't eat yesterday so was braving very upsetting. Dietician wanted me to have 2 Protein Shakes a day on top of what I have been eating but I struggle and it makes me feel extremely ill

Do you like Greek yogurt? That is a staple for me. I use it for at least one of my meals daily and it has lots of Protein. I find eggs extremely filling. I couldn't eat them the first 6 months.

I wish I liked Greek yoghurt but I have quite an intolerance to dairy, always have but a lot more worse since the surgery

I know someone who had to go back in to have their sleeve adjusted (probably what the above posters were mentioning). My surgeon said your body will eventually equalize and maintain a certain weight. Unfortunately you can't tell your body what the magic number is. Good luck!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
