Help! Ive gained 10 lbs from goal. :(

Recommended Posts

Things that helped me be successful at getting to goal.

Exercise

My fitness pal

Daily weighing

Things that got me off track. I started a diet that worked well but promised welght loss without tracking calories. I did lose when I stuck to it but I quit and started eating when I wasn't hungry etc.

I stopped daily weighing after I a aw the same number (120) for a month and a half. I shouldn't have stopped.

I have every excuse in the book not to exercise. I hate hate hate it. HAAATE. the only thing I like is running and honestly I'm not going to do it outside. One cold or rainy day will throw me off for a month. I need a treadmill but have literally no money. You could say that I have negative money.

I feel disgusted with myself. My butt is so wide. It's as if every oz went straight there. It's wiggly when I walk and I wish I could chop it off. "/ but yet this isn't enough to make me stop eating when I'm not hungry.

I'm setting up a mfp account for tomorrow. Again. I hope I can do this. I was all set to exercise- got my shoes and workout clothes out and put them by the bed, only to realize that I can't find my dvd's!! Gah!!

Please send words of wisdom. Ideas. How YOU got back on track?

You should be happy with the progress you have made...go back to weighing yourself everyday and doing what you know works for you...accept yourself and understand we all make mistakes, it's nothing that can't be fixed...God loves you!

Oh my goodness you are being so hard on yourself! You have lost an amazing amount of weight and I'm sure you have worked incredibly hard to get there. It's really important to keep on track with good food and exercise but don't be so fixated on the numbers on the scale. Have you considered you may need some help with body image? you have a BMI of 23, but you are describing yourself as if you are 100 lbs overweight. I'm just a little worried by what you are saying that you are sounding a little obsessive (this is coming from someone who has been there and struggled with distorted body image my whole life).

I think when it comes to maintaining exercise is the key. Do you have someone you can work out with that will help keep you on track? The way I do it is I am setting a goal for myself like running a 10K or a duathlon and driving my focus towards that goal.

It is easy to get in a rut and really hard to pull out of it sometimes so I understand. That being said you have done extremely well with your weight loss so don't beat yourself up too much.

I know you said the only thing you like is running, but you might wanna consider adding some strength training, which I understand can be better for maintaining (and is obviously important for overall health). Put some cool podcasts on an MP3 player or some music to get you through it without being bored, and pump some iron!

Amy, I think you posted this to get some tough love, so I'm gonna give it to you.

Get yourself back to basics: Protein first, then vegs, then carbs. You know what to do.

Get all your Water in.

Try a new exercise or do something you at least like (walk in the park? Swim? Bike ride?) try to do something every day, even if it is just 30 minutes.

You know how hard it was to get to goal. 10 lbs is a great time to get yourself back in the saddle. You can do it :) I know you can. We all believe in you.

...hugs....

Don't focus on what you should not have done or what you can't do what you don't want to do

Focus on what you WILL do. What do you want and are you willing to do what you need to to get it? You know the basics. You know you need to weigh in and track food. You know you need to move your body. But most of all you can't outrun the fork. Focus on what is going in your mouth. Count every crumb. Be accountable.

I want to thank you for coming back here and reaching out to us. That shows your character and strength. It also show us how easy it is to slip up. We are all human. Forget the past. What will you do going forward. That is all that matters.

Good luck - you can do it - we believe in you,

Hi Amy - good to see a post from you again. Good job at making it to goal. That is so great. As for motivation to exercise, I like to follow tony horton's advice from p90x: " do your best and forget the rest." It is a powerful, yet simple, statement if you get down to the bare essence of it. Forget what is working against you Forget what happened yesterday (if it was a negative experience). Put one running foot in front of the other and do your best. I remember how much you really enjoyed running. Glad to hear it is still fun for you. I know you will get back to where you want to be. You are a strong person. Keep your goals front and center and you will be surprised at how quickly you will correct it.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
