Feeling a bit alone ..

Recommended Posts

My surgery is on April 4th and I am now in my 6th week of pre surgery Optifast ...

And I feel really alone sometimes ... People don't understand , my husband has been great and is really supportive but I think I have talked his ear off about the topic haha at work the girls are great about it but they really don't understand I mean they don't even need to loose 3lbs and they complain ... I know that everyone has their own battles so I try not to judge but I feel like screaming for f****s sake you have no idea what's it's like so get over yourself !!!

I enjoy reading others posts and stories on here makes me realise I am not alone in what I am going thru ..

So all that being said please feel free to chat or pm me or whatever if you want to talk :)

People don't understand ,

@@Jessiegirl30

think its safe to say "we" all understand your pain/thoughts/feelings

you might be "physically" alone (except DH) but we've got your back!!!!

i'm glad you come to the boards alot :)

i'm glad you have and will continue to gather lots of invaluable information :)

the only person i was reallllly able to talk to about my pending/present WLS, struggles was/is my supportive DH

he listens (i rarely give him a chance to talk!! )

the saying, something like "a person should walk a mile in YOUR shoes" comes to mind

its hard to relate to something - if "you've" never been their

friends/family/others can be great, nice, loving, supportive

but they can never REALLY understand our issues with weight since they've never been their

you've done an amazing job losing 62 lbs pre-op

thats all the more you don't/won't have to lose!!!!

not sure if you know this...............

i read a survey that was given to hundreds of surgeons and hospitals

they all agree on one thing.....

April 4th, 2014 is the BEST day to have weight loss surgery

how lucky can you be!!!!! ;)

good luck with surgery

speedy recovery :)

kathy

congrats

I know how you feel. I didn't tell anyone except my husband, family, and 1 friend about the surgery so I felt really alone during the entire pre op process. It sort of took some of the joy out of it. We are here for you.

My surgeon has a private Facebook support group, but I know there also groups on spark people and maybe through your bariatric practice. There is no way I could have been successful without the daily chats in my support group. At a certain point, family and friends cant quite understand the fear, joy and just general upheaval involved.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
