Think about food all you want. It is not going to grow back so you can never eat like you used to. What you might want to do is start to think of food in a different way. Like finding interesting and tasty recipes that will help you get healthier and stronger in the future. Slowly changing the way we see food and what we eat and satisfying ourselves with better food can make all the difference. It did for me..so far!!!!!!!!!!!

Might just work for you as well.! :)

It gets easier or better as you're thinking adjusts to what you should or shouldn't do. At least that's what happened for me. I pulled up blogs of sleevers that have recipes, looked at pinterest vsg stuff, read success stories to keep positive. There are lots of yummy things that I can make a part of my "new" normal. In the meanwhile worked through the stages and before you know it the more restrictive weeks are/were over.

I'm 15 dats post op. I thought about bacon and seafood a lot the first week. Crazy, because I like both food but for whatever reason, my mind went to that. But I think it was more to do with sensory deprivation - no crunch and all that fake sweet stuff. I am on puréed foods now and doing better. In fact, cravings are nothing, NOTHING, like they were. I get hungry but fill up quickly. Once you're back into a schedule and not so "post op" it might lessen. The mental stuff is hard. Stay busy if you can.

I think once I get to the solid food stage it will be easier. Sometimes it's hard to tell if you're having real hunger or head hunger.

Having head hunger is a real issue and it is part of changing the way we see food. For years it has been a comfort for us through whatever was going on in our lives. It is a whole different ball game as we leave this longtime so called friend behind and eat to live not live to eat.

It is one of the first parts of the journey that confuses us. I think you recognize it and see it for what it is. I think your on your way kid! :)

Just hit the end of week two and it definitely is easier. Today, I cooked a bunch of different things and portioned them into the freezer so that I will have quick heat and eat options. Starting puréed tomorrow. Yay!

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
