JenUlch1 0 Posted April 4, 2007 Hi, I got banded on March 12. I am about 3 1/2 weeks out. I feel my hunger growing. I was wondering what will change once I get my first fill, is there a difference in hunger? How did anyone else feel once there swelling went down in the stomach? I've heard that your hunger and appetiate can be the same in these weeks, is this true? Thanks!
ladyvase 0 Posted April 5, 2007 Iam at 5 wks out and I am hungery very bad. I fight it and stay on a low carb diet. I also fined that I can eat much more food, everyday my hunger grows, I cant wait to get my fill. In the begin I was not hungery but now I am. I know it will get better with each fills..But with fills comes other problems, like pbs and slime and that scares me. Good luck to you

juliegeraci 7 Posted April 5, 2007 Yes, it is very true. You are not filled, thus not restriction. I love my band, it took me 8 months to feel complete restriction. I would follow up with a fill first. I may take you multiple fills to find a good level. Good luck! Julie
skyeblu79 0 Posted April 5, 2007 I was banded 6 weeks yesterday. I can eat anything, but I still am feeling some restriction. Everyday and every meal seems different. I will have my first fill this Monday.
dragonfly-wings 0 Posted April 5, 2007 Hi - can anyone tell me what the cost of fills are in US an approx. is fine - I was planning on flying to Mexico each time I needed one but after reading this, I feel I should find a fill md here. That's one thing I did not research before setting my surgery date.
dotofoz 0 Posted April 5, 2007 HI. When you all say 'I can eat anything', does that include solids? I'm 6 weeks out tomorrow and still try to stick to purree. I've had bad experiences (like vomiting) when trying to eat 'normal' foods. I'm going thru alot of stress at home (like a husband that won't separate after a separation) so that is really taking its toll.....
demsvmejm 5 Posted April 5, 2007 cindyluhu slime is when something gets stuck and your body produces a mucus type of thing to try and either bring it back up, or get to slide down. DH stands for "Darling Husband" although, on most occasions in my posts I leave on the "D" for no other reason but to communicate that I'm talking about my husband! Good Luck with your May banding
mstars 0 Posted April 21, 2008 my doc. in houston charges 75. he is on the low side because he says he wants you to come in to get fills. also if you give him a refural or he uses your before and after he'll give free fills for life. find a doc in your area. it will be worth it. also have you heard about how flying afects your band? it's susposed to mess with it some what. Liz1531 3 Posted April 21, 2008 I think I am different than most people, but here is my story: After the swelling went down I could eat exactly as before and I did! It took two fills spaced over a few months to get a good fill. Having the fills hasn't decreased my appetite in as far as how often I am hungry, BUT it has made a huge difference in what I can eat. Tonight I ate like a giant fatty (more than I can/should normally eat). I had one home made burrito and two pieces of pinapple upside down cake. Normally I can eat 3/4 of a Lean Cusine for lunch so that is what the fills have done for me. I do still get hungry about every three hours or so, it's just the quantity that is decreased.
