5 days pre-op weight loss

Recommended Posts

So I got on the scale this morning , I started my pre-op diet on Monday and have only lost 6lbs,felt bad cause I thought for sure it would be more, but then I remembered I fell off the wagon on Tuesday so I guess it is not too bad...

I think 6 pounds is pretty good! I just started today and am currently drinking my first Protein Drink. Optifast is the only thing my doc allows...and this stuff is NASTY!

you should know and will learn, and please understand a loss (any) no matter how small or big.....counts

please give yourself a break and not go into this with expectations you feel are needed as if you dont meet those, you may hinder your excellent progress...judge your true/accurate loss by clothes getting smaller, better fitness as inches lost means you are losing weight...

hang in there

sounds to me as if you are doing just fine

ps get rid of the only lost this bs.....you need to talk nicer to YOU

I agree. If you already feel disappointed you will be more so after surgery because you can not bank on steady weight loss every single month. It doesn't happen for most people. A loss is a loss no matter how you lose it. Get positive there will be many moments of disappointment with weight loss surgery. You have to learn to deal with it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
