Hi everyone!....I've been reading the threads for awhile now and finally am getting around to posting :)...I've lost 38 lbs with pre diet, was banded 7/31/13 and I'm now down another 62 lbs. My original goal was to loose 110lbs. So that being said I'm 10 from my goal and decided that I now want to kick my nicotine addiction. But I'm so afraid if gaining any weight. As it is the past 2 weeks I've been working out non stop 6 days a week and being very on point with my eating, yet I gained a pound back!! Any advice on either would be appreciated :)

sounds like you are building muscle

muscle is more dense than fat (does not weigh more).... however its a good thing truly even though the scale may not show it, it will

Thanks for your response :) I'm hoping that is the case. It's just so discouraging when the scale goes up or doesn't move. I think I might start taking some measurements, and at least if the scale doesn't show it hopefully inches will!

I quit smoking after 90lbs but I gained 20lbs and then I started losing again and lost 50lbs. The association of the hand to mouth thing is really the issue. If you really want to quit smoking and not eat, buy and electronic cigarette. That will keep you away from food but just know when you stop smoking your metabolism will slow down but the benefits of not smoking are so great.

1-3 lbs here or there means nothing. You can gain 1 lb by drinking Water combined with something else high sodium. It's just Water weight.

Or, if you're pushing your muscles, they will retain water to aid in healing themselves from being pushed hard.

Or, it could be TOM and you're retaining water.

If you gain 5 lbs, then be concerned. jmo

Ya I'm hoping my running will improve when I quit smoking. I've kicked many addictions and this is the only one I have left lol...plus it doesn't help that I have asthma. It will one day to nice to actually say I AM a healthy person.

That's funny you said that. I was actually reading about the Water retention from the muscle healing. It's crazy the things your body does. I should've posted question here a long time ago. You guys are great :)

I quit smoking prior to my surgery, ( doctor mandated) I used the patch so I could ween myself off the nicotine and used the EZ Blow, vaporizer pen for the hand to mouth habit which actually I found was the worst part of the cigarette addiction for me! You can get the liquid for it in hundreds of flavors with or without nicotene. My husband also quit with me and did the same , we both had smoked for about 45 years, and now have no desire of going back!

Good Luck to you!

Good for you on your success thus far! You've come a long way, baby. And if you remember that slogan, you can thank the cigarette industry. I'm an ex-smoker for 29 years this past January. The hardest part is the habits that go with smoking. Going through all of those without a cigarette. Going to a bar, watching tv, driving your car. But I'm going to tell you, beating the food addiction is so much harder, so you can do this! You'll be so happy when a few months from now you can smell the fresh cut grass and other things that were dulled for so long. Great decision, and good luck!

You are doing great with your weight loss. I live in Boston and my husband went to the Mad Russian to quit smoking. He needed to go 2-4 times but smoked 4-6 packs a day. That is not a number mistake. I never smoked. Good luck

Thanks everyone! I feel like I could do it. I've quit for 2 years a few years ago but when you don't have anything to quit for its a little harder this time lol...I don't drink anymore and no one in my family, including my husband smoke so I feel it would be easy. I'm just struggling between gaining weight the past couple days and the anxiety I'm getting thinking about quitting.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
