Clear Liquid & Fluid Intake

Recommended Posts

I'm now 3 days post op and the doc wants me to be on a clear liquid diet for a week. Then will probably move to full liquid.< /p>

I did have some confusion from a pre discharge talk with a nurse, I recall her mentioning milk with the Protein powders, as long as fat free or 1%. I was so doped up, I was falling asleep and I am uncertain as to her context. On day 2 post op I was using milk with the Protein powders.

Than I recalled the clear liquid part, so I am now mixing my protein powders with a watered down apple juice (which is what the doc says to do). My point to all this is......How much of what I am taking in on a clear liquid diet counts to my Water intake. Is Jello considered part of my Water intake? What about the Protein powder drinks I make. Plus I am unsure how much to ingest at a time so I am sticking to the schedule they had in the hospital. An ounce every 15 minutes. is there a better or easier way to do this? I would appreciate any pointers.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
