Personally I eat 3 times a day. I'm one of the lucky ones in that I don't feel real hunger anymore (sometimes head hunger or more likely want). I'm nearly 2 years out and for the past 6 months I have followed the 5:2 plan, where I restrict my calories on 2 days per week. On ordinary days I get about 1000-1100 calories. Not quite at goal, 4lb to go - my journey has been slow but I figured early out that it was not a race and so became comfortable with my rate of loss. Before VSG when I went to WW and other slimming clubs I was always a slow loser too.

35g of Protein will stall your weight loss. At your point in the journey, it's all about getting that Protein in and hydrating.

I eat 6 times a day, sometimes 7 (these are small meals). You MUST plan your meals out and bring enough food to last you through your workday - it's what I have to do. If you have to supplement with Protein shakes to get that protein up then do so. I use Syntrax nectar at 100 cals 21g of protein. It's what I have first thing in the morning when I wake up and after going to the gym.

Is it possible for you to get a Protein Drink with a higher Protein content or double the amount of powder you put into a shake, this would increase your protein intake.

Early on I had 3 meals and 2 Snacks a day (since my meals were very small). I was able to get in all my Protein, but I usually had two Protein shakes a day and high protein Snacks. You really have to work at it to get in all your protein. It's still something I have to focus even 7+ months out.

I live in India and we dont get tinned food or many options of high Protein. I am also a vegetarian most of the times...so its all the more difficult.

But we have to go for Protein shakes for the rest of our lives I think.

Its a life long effort and i will do it.without going off the track!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
