I was sleeved March 25,2014. Everything has been going pretty good but I just woke up choking. My mouth tastes sour and my lungs are burning, I keep coughing up acidic spit or something and I am scared. I think I breathed some into my lungs.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Oh, and I have been sleeping on the couch propped up to a near sitting position.

are you taking the anacid medicines? stomach continues to secrete acids and they are not used...as stomach is now very small..so we have this acidity. Take your medicines regularly .all the best.

I was prescribed Prevacid and also purchase some gas x strips that also helps. I had my surgery on 3/26 and everything went well. I was told to sit up as much as possible and they gave me medicine in the hospital for acid. I was also told if I walk after every hour that, that would help also. My problem is everything I drink seems to make my stomach feel weird.

My stomach feels weird too, it keeps flopping around and squealing. Not too loud yet but I can hear it.

I am calling my surgeons office when they open, I wasn't given any prescriptions for antacids and at this point I want their permission to take whatever I take.

Thank you both for responding, I was so scared I breathed it into my lungs and my nose, throat and chest were burning so badly when I wrote this post.

I've done this a few times too since surgery. I take Prilosec everyday. It always happens if I lay down too soon after I eat or drink. I have to wait a while before lay down or I'm up taking Tums.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
