Tammy yes ma'am I forgot those two things. I'm a lip gloss/Eco sphere junkie I have to have that and the heating pad many said was very helpful. Throwing those in the pile too.

I took a pillow, extra pair of undies and pair of comfy pants, slippers, phone charger and ipad. I touched my ipad once, didn't use any of the extra clothes, or slippers. I wore home what I wore there. I would have been fine waking in with my clothes, phone, phone charger, and pillow. They'll have anything else you need.

They also also wouldn't let me have any gas x strips while in the hospital.

2 nights. I would have gone home the next day, but I wasn't comfortable because I had some pain and spasms when I would drink. Didn't want to get unhooked from the iv, go home and not be able to drink. So I asked to stay another nighy. Glad I did.

But I pretty much slept or walked the whole 2 days. I didn't even ever turn my tv on. I was also allowed ice chips right away, so I didn't have toooooooo bad of dry mouth. They also told me that gas x wouldn't work, as it won't get rid of the gas in my abdominal cavity anyways.

Take the least amount you can get by with. You will be so drugged after surgery that you won't want to play on that I-Pad. You will want to sleep, get up and walk, and sleep some more. Good luck and happy healing. The pillow, chap stick and heating pad sore most important. Beware, not all hospitals will allow you to use your own heating pad.

Thank u. I'm such a tech and internet junkie I usually can't go to sleep without my toys lol. I remember at sleep lab my tech was like ok put that up now time for bed we want to be able to capture at least 5-6 hours of sleep. I felt like big kid having to have someone tell me to put my toys away at this age lol. Question if the hospital won't allow mines will they provide me one?

I had VSG. My surgery was Friday at 3pm, I was back in my room by 5:30pm. Discharged Saturday around 9am and went back to the hotel with my sister. I walked to the Walmart plaza (about 6 long city blocks round trip) twice that day. Walked to Walmart again the next day before going back to OCC for a drain check and dressing change. Then went shopping at Revolucion market area and more walking. I had almost no pain and there was no reason to be lying around in a hospital bed. Drain removal and fluoroscopy barium swallow on Monday before flying home.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
