Sometimes I really miss my Coke Zero. I know it's not good for you, surgery or no surgery. But, I just miss a cold, icy fountain Coke Zero. Now, unsweetened tea is my treat. :(

I miss Pasta dishes, cheesecake and Merlot. I have a wine refrigerator full of wine that I may end up giving away since my husband doesn't like wine (I collected it much faster than I ever drank it, so there's a lot!).

I miss nothing from before. To miss the things I used to eat would be like missing an abusive husband after you left him. My relationship with food was like that - I loved it but it but over time it hurt my health and made me miserable. If I had not had WLS it would have made me a diabetic, destroyed my joints, and put me at risk for a deadly heart attack, eventually killing me. I'm happy and I feel good. I never dreamed life could be this good. :-)

Patti, my doc has allowed soda (after sitting 20 min to let fizz out) since month 2. Yours wont?

My doc no soda of any kind for two years! By then I don't think I will miss it anymore!

I miss my Coke Zero a lot of times. My doctor told me no soda forever, that it will stretch out the pouch. However, I have found flavored waters like Vitamin Water zero and Sobe Water is nicer than just plain. No calories!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
