Recovery room question

Recommended Posts

What was yours like? I didn't like mine at all, I felt like a cow in a barn. There were like forty people in this huge room and I was in a lot of pain, they took a long time to get to me. It just didn't seem professional.

Where was your surgery? Were you impatient or day surgery?

I was day surgery and there were about 5 people in with me. I woke up, asked for meds, then asked to leave. No problems.

I barely remember my recovery room stay, I was in and out of consciousness the entire time, but from what I can recall, there weren't that many people there, and received meds when I needed them.

I recovered in my room. I don't remember much other than being to warm. They had me piled high with warm blankets. I did great after removing all the blankets and keeping the sheet. :P

I was the last of 5 surgeries that day and was solo in recovery. They took me back to my room as soon as I was extubated. I kind of remember lying on this inflatable pad that they blew up around me. They used this to transfer me to my bed. Then I remember my sister asking me if I was cold because I was shivering...I don't remember being cold, Then I woke up 3 hours later and texted my sister to let her know I was awake and OK. (She had left to go back to the hotel). She said our FaceTime conversation at that point was pretty entertaining because I was so loopy (I remember the call but not the conversation)

I spent 3 hours in recovery and they were miserable. The stretcher was miserable. I was so nauseated. I knew I'd be 1000x more comfortable in the actual room. I remember being ex turbaned and the severe pain briefly. Why on earth they wait so long to get you to a room there is beyond me. I had mine at a major academic hospital and it was busy everywhere. I just wanted to get up and move and get back into a more comfortable bed.

Hiw on earth did you manage gastric sleeve as day surgery? What about pain?

I am in the UK and waiting for a date in May (hopefully) and have been told it's a two or three night stay. First day in high dependency nil by mouth, then second day back on the ward sips of fluids only and third day in the ward taking more fluids like Soups and Hot drinks.

Throughout having pain relief and told to expect tre first two days to be fairly uncomfortable.

Where was your surgery? Were you impatient or day surgery?

If you go to my gallery, you will see me the day after surgery. That picture was take at the Wynn hotel/casino in Las Vegas (baby!). I had a pain pump which had a tube running directly to the suture line in my stomach. I was taking liquid loritab every 4 hours or so, too, which is basically liquid vicodin. I walked about 5 miles that day all over Vegas ... and it was July 9th ... about 105 degrees. Kept hydrated and had a great recovery.

I have similar sentiments as you, but just the opposite. How can anyone actually WANT to be in a hospital? There are sick people there. When I have been in the hospital, I just want to lay in bed and be sick letting others take care of me. I knew with this surgery, I needed to be up and moving doing the things I needed to do to start my recovery. Outpatient was a great option for me.

I woke up in the recovery room and shook my head. The nurse asked if I was in pain and I said yes. She gave me meds. Then I woke up in my room.

Wow @@PdxMan amazing recovery and what a transformation (in your gallery photos)!

In the uk you are kept in hospital for at least 1 day, and more often 3-4 days. No walking round Las Vegas for 5hours post op... Incredible!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
