karinbuck 42 Posted March 27, 2014 Ok so this feeling comes and goes. I'm a week post op and on a very positive note I am down 10 lbs. I'm still on the liquid phase and hopefully the doctor will let me start on soft foods tomorrow. I am nervous about starting on food. However sometimes I miss it. I realize it won't be forever. But I keep thinking how much I would love a good piece of bread with some cheese. 1 LessofApril reacted to this
LessofApril 101 Posted March 27, 2014 You are not alone! I am 3 months out and I miss the ability to consume the way I used too. But it's worth it in the end!
karinbuck 42 Posted March 27, 2014 I def only have moments of missing it. The rest of the time I almost feel free. Free of meal planning and going to the store and buying way more than I need. It's really kind of nice. I just have crazy craving moments. 1 laurenanastasia reacted to this
JeanZ_RN 378 Posted March 27, 2014 I think it's safe to say we all have cravings from time to time. Just keep reminding yourself - giving in to those cravings is how we got in this position in the first place. It's ok to have the impulse, just not ok to surrender to it as a regular thing. Something I heard or read someplace early on was that if we can make good choices 90% of the time, we'll be ok. 1 Danni-doinit4me reacted to this

NMJG 1,266 Posted March 27, 2014 I miss food, too, and not just cravings for this or that, but the entire eating experience. I eat so differently now and I can never go back to how I ate before. Food was a huge part of my life and I went through a mourning period for it. But, you get over it and on to bigger and better things. The first 6 months are about learning a whole new way of life. It's hard, but so worth it. I am still learning.
