Hi everyone I am two weeks post op and was losing pretty much 2 pounds everyday for the first 10 days and quickly lost 20 pounds, but then I started my period and gained a little. I didn't think much of it at first but I have been stuck at the same weight now for 4 or 5 days. I am still on liquid diet and haven't changed anything I can't understand what is going on. Have any of you experienced this?

It is perfectly normal for weight loss to slow down significantly after the first 2 weeks. Your body just went through major trauma and now thinks you are starving to death. Give it a little while to catch up and you will start losing weight again. It would be impossible not to lose on the amount of calories you are taking in at 2 weeks post-op. Weight loss is like a stair step, meaning you hold at the same weight and then have a loss and then stay at the same weight again and then have a loss. You might even gain a pound here and there due to Water weight. My suggestion would be to step away from the scale. There is no need to weigh more than once a week and really even that might make you nuts. If you can stand to do every other week or even once a month, that would be better.

I agree maybe the scale isn't such a good friend anymore. I was sleeved on Feb. 27 and have lost about 20 lbs so far. I swore to myself I wouldn't weigh myself at home and only get my weight when I had my follow up appts to hopefully keep myself from getting discouraged. Well, I caved today after going two weeks not feeling like my clothes were getting any looser. I've only lost 1-2 lbs the last 2 weeks - pretty disappointing. Guess I just need to keep doing my thing and hope the scale keeps up.

I'm in a stall right now as well. I had surgery on March 6th. I've lost 27 pounds, but the scale hasn't moved in a week. I'm ready for it to move again! I am just keeping on keeping on and staying consistent. I know it will eventually move!!! :-)

Dang, you guys are hard on yourselves! You just had major surgery! Give yourselves a break and trust in the process and plan your program has given you.

And technically speaking, a true stall is 3 weeks and more. Your body is resting and readjusting. Things shift every so often.

The more you stress the less you'll lose. Right now where yall are at, youre all losing inches. I can darn near promise you that too.

Breath and give yourself credit for coming this far in the journey!

I'm soooo happy to have read y'all post...I've lost 30 pounds but been at a stall then fluctuating gaining a pound or half a pound then loosing! Had my surgery 2/27/14, to see I'm at the sane point with the rest of you has encouraged me to stay positive!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
