Lactose intolerance and Anemia

Recommended Posts

Good Morning all!

Went to my initial class yesterday, and I had a couple of questions for those who have already had their surgery:

1.)Did you develop a problem with becoming Lactose intolerance after your surgery?

2.)I have a slight Anemia problem now, did you develop Anemia problems after surgery?

Thanks to all who are open and honest on this site, your insight and experiences have answered a lot of my questions.

I was anemic before the VSG, and still fight it now. You will want to make sure you get plenty of Iron after the surgery so you can heal and also maintain a level that is normal so you can function. Its manageable with an Iron supplement and stool softeners as needed. Never did develop a lactose intolerance.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
