Packing List for Mexico VSG

Recommended Posts

Hola! I edited the packing list in the main forum for my upcoming surgery in Mexicali and thought I would share it. Obviously men will have to ignore a few items on there, but overall, it should be comprehensive (a lot of the info is from the doctor's office). I am pasting it below and also attaching a pdf. Please let me know if you are unable to view it, I will email you one.

Good luck to all of us!

If you are flying back the hospital should give you broth before your leave in the morning before heading back to the airport. Please plan on what you will be having on your day of travel. You can get juice, hot and cold Water and tea in most flights. Plan on what you can mix with Water. It is very important to keep hydrated; it will prevent problems during your recovery. Here are a few suggestions.

Mix with Cold or room temperature water:

· powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein powder (flavored)

· Propel powder

· Crystal Light

· Powder Gatorade (G2 has less sugar)

· Apple and white grape juice provided by the airline, please water it down it usually has too much sugar

Mix with hot or warm water:

· Unjury Protein Powder (chicken soup)

· Tea (caffeine free chamomile tea is a great option which has anti inflammatory effects)

If you are driving back: You should receive broth before you leave the hospital in the morning. Please plan on what you will be having on your day of travel; bring your Protein drinks with you.

I went to Mexico for sugery. This is a very good list. I say you dont need the translator book/app or the knee length compression stockings. The only thing I would add is bandages and paper tape. I bought adhesives bandages and 4 months later I still have a large square scar around my drain scar.

Also I your driver will go take you to the store when returning you to the hotel from the hospital, so any thing forgotten is no big deal.

I see it says on your list to bring my own compression socks, yet all the members of this MBC Sleeve support group are saying that the hospital gives you a pair right after surgery. Please help

I would add a light (cotton) robe to the list for when you are walking the halls. I too received compression stockings from the hospital as well.

Thanks for this list. I leave next week and have been starting to put together a mental list of what I need to take.

I was given house shoes by the hospital. They were nice. I used Dr. Illan at Florance hospital. I wore my running shoes because we went on walks after we were discharged to the recovery house. We walked to the grocery store and to eat lunch. Wasn't far! Loved seeing Mexico. Bring some adhesive wipes or something to remove adhesive with. The tape got all over my belly and was very sticky! I was given the compression socks but I didn't leave Mexico until the 5th day after surgery. As long as you move your legs on the plane everything should be fine. I brought my DVD player to catch up on some HBO stuff. I didn't need an eye mask or ear plugs. My room was quiet and dark. The hospital gave me as many pillows as I wanted. I was given wet wipes and tissue at the hospital. Gas X strips made me sick as a dog!!! Lip balm was great!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
