Workout plans.

Recommended Posts

My surgery date is July 10th, it's coming fast!

I want to know what everyone's doing for work out plans before surgery and even after surgery. I'm starting to train my body now. food wise and along with workout wise.

I was always told the cardio with losing weight. I'm 18 years old so the elasticity in my skin is very good, my surgeon said I should not have a lot of excess skin ( no guarantee, just by judgement. )

What do you guys recommend for workouts ?..

If you are not doing any kind of exercising I would start walking. A little each day to build up endurance. Then start increasing the distance and time. Once you build a habit then start looking at other things, like bike riding, group classes such as zumba or jazzercise, maybe join a gym when your comfortable. Your also going to want to add weights to tone up. My nut stresses the importance of movement things like parking farther away from the store to increase steps all helps. Enjoy the journey.

I would recommed the Couch to 5K (C25K) app by Zen Labs. Its free and it works. I used to do crossfit for about 2 years before I had surgery. Never lost more than 15 lb doing so, but did gain alot of muscle. And we all know what they say "muscle weighs more than fat" and that "80% of working out is diet". I knew that after the surgery I didnt want any scale stalls becasue I was gaining muscle, I wanted to lose fat. And sometimes after really intense work outs I would get so hungery I would eat 2X more then I needed. So I personally wanted to focused on eating right until I hit my stalling point, which for me was about 5 weeks ago. So 4 weeks ago I started the C25K program and I started losing again.

With that said everyone is different. For me working out had never been an issue. food is. Exspecially the mental part. If you havent really worked out before or arent a fan of it you need to find what will work for you. Try differnt things, walking, jogging, running, spin classes, yoga, crossfit, kick boxing, swimming. Find what you like and set long and short term goals.

I didn't do anything more than some casual walking until about 4 months post op when my weight loss started to lag. Now I workout about 3-4 x a week. I do cardio on the treadmill: incline walking and jogging/ running. I also do some body weight resistance training stuff like plank, burpees, squats, push ups, tricep dips etc. I never do the exact same workout. On the treadmill I either work on endurance (distance, low speed), speed (short intervals at faster speeds) or strength (max incline, walking and jogging in short bursts). I actually enjoy it. I'm so grateful for my sleeve and my motivation to get stronger and healthier.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
