amc2014 53 Posted May 11, 2014 I kinda wish they would just take my gall bladder at the same time. I have read that so many people have problems with it after surgery and why go through another surgery if it can be done while already I agree. It doesn't make much sense to have to go back in a few months after such a major surgery to remove the gallbladder. I think I am going to ask my surgeon about that at my pre-op. Our weight loss center puts everyone on Ursodiol to help prevent formation of gallstones. Mine did a scan while doing all my testing and found my gallbladder packed with stones. Do your centers give you the option to have a scan preop?
amc2014 53 Posted May 11, 2014 I have my surgery date scheduled for June 16th! I'm in the kaiser Sacramento bariatric surgery program with Dr. Grinberg. My highest weight was 287, my "starting" weight at kaiser was 283 with a -15 pound pre-op goal weight of 268. I am now 262. All my lab work is done, my psych eval is done. I just have a few pre-op appointments to go. My clothes are falling off of me, but I refuse to buy clothes. I'm so excited for this new change. I'm also having my gallbladder removed at the same time. Is anyone else having that done too? i'm having my gallbladder out at the same time too.
HelenaMarie83 74 Posted May 11, 2014 I have gallstones already, so I asked the surgeon to remove my gallbladder at the same time. Apparently it's not something they regularly do in Ottawa. I'm very happy they're going to do both, saves a second surgery. June 19th cannot come soon enough for me. I start my liquid diet in 29th of May. That's awesome! I'm stoked for you. We are going to get healthy AND be gallstone free!
HelenaMarie83 74 Posted May 11, 2014 Yes, they do ultra sounds on us, and upper endoscopies after if needed. 2 amc2014 and Loveskinnyme reacted to this

In February I made the mistake of buying some new clothes. I took advantage of some very good bra sales from Lane Bryant. I have 15 of them. I have no idea what I am going to do with them after they are to big. Can bras even be donated to the goodwill or place like that? I had planned on donating my clothing that become to big. I am glad I kept most of my clothes that are to small. I will be a little bit outdated, it's better than having to a new wardrobe every month.

kimquilts55 18 Posted May 11, 2014 the liquid pre-op is any kind of low fat, no sugar, low carb liquids.....designed to shrink your liver as I understand it. I will still be at work when I start it....I work in public education....then I have a quick trip to NC to deliver #1 grandson to his dad for the summer. HelenaMarie83 74 Posted May 11, 2014 We will be here for you if you need us. We are all going thru this together. The way I see it, I'm having a life saving surgery and the liquid diet will make it safer for me and give me my best chance. Based on that perspective, I'm looking forward to it, as it will mean I'm just one step closer. Good luck! We are rooting for you! 2 lockhb and QuuenRule reacted to this
