I got a call saying my surgery is June 4th. I have my last nut appt May 1st. They went ahead and scheduled mine because I have some work schedule issues. I start my pre-op diet May 21st. I am excited to get the weight loss started. I also have a bmi of 35 so for six months I had to stay the same.

I am doing to my best at the waiting game. I usually call them just once a day in the afternoon. I would love to constantly badger them but I am trying to be polite. This is honestly the worst part of the whole process.

Is it an upper gi series? I had it last weekend. It gave me a bit of nausea but it went by pretty quickly :)

yes it is... how long did it last?

It was about 30-45 min. The crazy part is the table moving. He saw the fear in my eyes and told me it can hold up to 1000 pounds hehe. I found out I have a small hernia and bad reflux. The radiologist will tell you what they are doing every step along the way :)

Oh and they have to mix up the barium in your tummy so they might have you move in some crazy positions :)

I have been working on the requirements for my insurance for the sleeve surgery since November 2013. I finally finished the 6 month weight management on April 4th and didn't find out till they were going to submit to my insurance that the doctor doesn't recommend the sleeve surgery based on my endoscope results. He wanted to do lapband which I didn't agree with so I switched doctors and finally everything should be submitting by the end of the week for gastric Bypass. I am hoping for an early June surgery date but am not getting my hopes up yet.

I called the surgeon's office and my case will be sent to the insurance company on Friday or Monday. I feel little better now, just a little. Probably going to be anxious until I know it's in the insurance company's hands.

Guess everyone is moving along. I have the second appt with the surgeon next Tuesday and psych eval that same day. I also have my cardiology appt scheduled in midMay so I'm hoping to get an early June date

Congrats Consuela! Maybe we'll end up around the same time to support each other

I'm in that boat where I can't lose or I drop below a bmi of 35. Really frustrating wanting to do something about the weight but having to wait for it!

I talked to the insurance coordinator at my hospital and they are just waiting on the letter from psych. We are looking at June 9th as a potential date. I am so nervous and hope I get approved!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
