roller coasters ?!

Recommended Posts

So I'm from Ohio and am going to Florida in 2 weeks and my best friend is already talking about taking me to amusement parks. Probably either Disney or busch gardens.

My question is, anyone know how big is to big for roller coaster rides. The last time I was on a ride at busch gardens was almost 10 years ago and I had no problem fitting but I don't exactly remember my size.

I am as of right now 5'9 and 325 lbs. I will probably be 310-315 when I go.

Anything helps! I just don't want to waste the money or have to do the walk of shame because I can't fit.

Good question! I'm going to Florida in May with my hubby. I'm 5'4 and 279 right now. It was about 15 yrs ago the last time we went. I don't want to walk the walk of shame either.

We went to Silver Dollar City in Branson, Mo last summer and for the roller coasters they had a try out seat at the front of the ride. I didn't even try but several did and I was surprised at how many had to walk away. I just couldn't bring myself to try it.

Last time I went to 6 flags I wasn't able to ride the ones that pull down over your shoulders. My chest was just in the way. I could ride the ones that just had a lap bar. 6 flags also had the test seats out front so that was helpful. I weighed about 325 at the time, but I'm only 5'6.

I've loved roller coasters since I was 12. I found that once I weighed over 260 lbs, it was very difficult to sit in them comfortably. I'm 5'6" tall.

We went to Disneyland last month (So Ca) and we were in line (an upside down one in California Adventure - one with a harness) with a mother/daughter team. The mother weighed at least 300 lbs. I worried for her during the entire 30 minutes line. I was mortified for her cuz I just KNEW they;'d turn her away. I was amazed when she actually fit.

While at Knotts berry Farm a few months ago (SO Ca). hubby and I went on the Excelerator (an extremely fast roller coaster) and my 6'1" hubby barely fit. If he had been 1" taller, he probly wouldn't have. And he's not overweight at all. His knees were literally up to his chest. Not sure if they have height requirements or not. Just an FYI - not that u asked about height requirements.

Soon will come the day when u won't even have to think about whether or not ull fit. When that day comes, make sure u treasure the feeling. I don't even enjoy coasters much (scare the crap outa me) but enjoy getting in them now cuz I know I'll fit perfectly.

Have fun!

Don't be discouraged if you can't do some of the rides. You are on your way to having the freedom to do WHATEVER you choose and it will come faster than you think. In 6-12 months you'll see a big difference! You can make a return trip and really have a ball! In eight months I went from a size 22-24 and 2X top to a comfy size 8 and top size small!!! Not that I'M ever going to ride a roller coaster! Too scary for me! Lol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
