Officially in Weight Loss Mode!

Recommended Posts

My high weight was 237. The morning of surgery I was 229.8. The day I was released from the hospital I was 236. This morning I was 228. Let the weight loss begin!

How does everyone get their Protein in? I'm not hungry at all. It's the thought of food that is currently making me nauseous not the over-eating of it.

Just make sure you are sip, sip, sipping that water! It is hard to get all the Protein in. By the time I had protein, there was no room for veggies or anything else. And true, not hungry with all the protein... Just give it some time and your body will start adjusting to the eating changes. I allow myself one snack a day that isn't protein just so I am getting my nutrients. I still haven't figured out how to get the recommended 6 mini meals in. I only have 4 a day but my nutritionist said that is fine. If I ate 6, I would spend my whole day eating!! LOL. Just do what is comfortable for you and talk to your nutritionist if you think you are not meeting your requirements. Are you drinking any protein? Alot of people get it in through shakes. :)

The only things I was able to get in during those first few weeks post-op were Protein Shakes, or like the chicken Soup flavored Unjury Protein mix. I got several different flavors of the Unjury Protein Powder. I really liked the vanilla and chicken soup flavored ones. Other than that, I had Jello and Water mostly lol.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
