Don't know whether to be worried or not, but just not feeling too well today. A little nausea and lower left side abdominal pain and burning. Anyone else experienced this? I am 4 weeks post op and have had no problems at all until today.

I'm also 4 weeks out and everything gives me awful heartburn and I have been feeling horrible. The only thing that doesn't bother me is s.f. popsicles. I'm about to call my Dr.

Oh no! Hope you feel better! I just talked to my surgeon and he said to avoid all milk and milk products as well as anything sugar free and just go to broth and things like chicken Soup. Oh and of course stay hydrated. He said if it worsens to go to the ER, but I am nowhere near that bad.

Always call your doc if it is painful and burning. I am 8 months out and have heard of others have this. Just be safe and call your doc. If really painful go to er.

Any burning type pain around an incision this far out is nerves healing and coming back to life. And my doc said that you can have pain around your large incision for up to 6 months. Uggg.

The doc put me back on liquids only and I'm being sent for an upper GI tomorrow. And also told me to start taking my nausea and spasm meds and that seemed to help a bit.

I'm 4 weeks today. I don't know if you noticed but right after surgery, the bottom left portion of the stomach is numb. Now it's not so numb. My side is just starting to feel better since I pulled the muscle in week 2. It will get better :)

What spasm meds do you take?

I feel much better today! I really believe it was the milk I made my Protein Shake with for Breakfast. I felt completely better by 4:00. My doc felt it was the milk too. Thank you all for all your support!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
