I'm nearly 2.5 years out and I still have these episodes. Went to an Italian restaurant to split up Colorado Rockies tickets with my group tonight. I ordered something soft. Lasagna and ravioli. I spent nearly the entire time waiting for each bite to pass through my stoma. One bite, wait 3-6 minutes, then another bite. I ate about 1/3 of my food and took the rest home.

Go Rockies and there will be no polish sausage or footlongs for this kid this year :P

That is why most of us don't even grab a Water bottle or ask for anything to drink at resturaunts or even get a glass until after we eat and wait for 30 -60 min after then we take a SMALL sip to see if we can drink and make sure it stays down , it is a real learning process and that is what they call being stuck and if there is mucas involved that is known as sliming & does not feel good , so just try and remember Protein first then wait to drink a small sip , hope this might help you and for us we can not guzzle any fluids as it will come back up , right away so we have to take our tie and we are so used to not taking time that we have to learn how to good luck on your journey.

Oh yes I have had those issues happen also. They are never fun and they happen to me when I am trying to rush through a meal and I eat too fast or I take too large of a bite. It will take just about forever for the food to pass if it doesn't just get stuck.

Your right it feels like your gonna die in that moment, I get hot and clammy feeling heart racing nerves going feeling like you can't breath and then once you get hold of yourself you realize you did it to your self and yup lesson learned! Which doesn't' mean that it doesn't repeat it self when necessary :)

I feel ya. Somthing I'm learning very slowly. Chew Chew Chew. But have never been stuck on Water yet. You didn't mention what small thing you grabbed to eat. It must have been the food don't you think?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
