Congradulations on your decision to get sleeved. I am female who was sleeved May 14, 2013 with no complications whatsoever. I had a BMI of 35 and was 5'1. I love to play golf so that was one of my biggerst worries after having surgery. It was golf season and I had tournaments coming up that I always look forward to playing in. I've always been athletic but on the chubby side. Much to the consternation of my doctor I played 9 holes two weeks after surgury. That's how good I felt. Don't get me wrong, I was most surely tired out, but no pain or pulling. I don't reccomend this for everyone. My boyfriend calls me hard headed. I have always been a great healer. My knees and hips felt so much better when I swung that club. Without that extra weight, my game improved. I played in a tournament 5 weeks after the surgery and won the longest drive for a female: 220 yards. I could drive the ball before but felt much better doing it. Throughout last season and losing the weight, my form became better. I can't wait to this season with the weight loss of 65lbs, working out with light weights, walking on a treadmill and most important: stretching. Good luck to you and remember listen to your body. When you are ready to play golf after surgery, hit a long one for me.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
