Just found out my surgery was moved up two hours which is wonderful because I was really not looking forward to having dry mouth for that long and hearing my stomach gurgle.

I told my 9 year old today in a very generic way and she is ok with it. Thankfully! Usually she is clingy with me and a drama queen.

Now I have to pack, take my before pictures, and take my measurements. My stomach is a mess!

I feel kind of weepy and nostalgic and sad. I guess just saying good bye to my old life that I was comfortable with is hard even though I know the future is going to be so much better!

Once you have started losing the weight you will no longer be looking in that rear view mirror. You certainly won't miss that old life. Congratulations and hope you have a quick recovery.

Ha I remember hearing stories of med students practicing pelvic exams on women against their will while they're out before surgery. I was thinking if writing on my inner thigh with permanent marker "nothing in vagina, thanks."

Lmao.

Hi I'm ok except in a lot of pain and they will only give me Lortab which Tylenol #3. I'm really pissed off. They are calling the dr to see if he will give me something else. I just had my stomach cut out, I didn't have tooth taken out! My back is killing me too.

How long do you have to stay in the hospital? I was only in for 24 hrs & then home. Hope u start feeling better soon! When u get home get some gas-x chewables they helped so much & also walk as much as u can tolerate.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
