Whitlisd 0 Posted March 24, 2014 I have been searching the forums, but cannot find this topic for some reason. I want to hear from the vets out there. Would you do it again if you had the choice? How would you rate your experience with WLS complications between 1 and 10 with 10 being severe and long term, and 1 being no complications from surgery at all? piercedqt78 658 Posted March 24, 2014 I'm almost 11 months post-op, at goal and YES would do it again 100000 times over. I had zero complications, and am now working to actually gain a few pounds back, as I feel I am underweight. 3 Cabingirl, KeeWee and Band2Sleever reacted to this
Photo925 100 Posted March 24, 2014 Im still preop, but most people I've seen answer this question say that the only regret they have is that they didn't do it sooner...I know you were asking the vets, but I just thought I would chime in too!! 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
PdxMan 4,292 Posted March 24, 2014 Almost 3 years post and would sign the release form right now, if I had to. On your scale, my complications have been a 1, physically. About a 5 mentally. I have learned things about myself I never anticipated. That was the toughest part. But not so tough I wouldn't do it again. I have grown from it. 4 Recycled, RJ'S/beginning, Band2Sleever and 1 other reacted to this

Seela 1,187 Posted March 24, 2014 I'm not a vet but at 5 months out even if my weight loss stopped right now I would do it again in a second! As the previous poster said my only regret is not having done it sooner. 3 Photo925, latina1974 and Band2Sleever reacted to this
Chelenka 827 Posted March 24, 2014 would ABSOLUTELY do it again! Best decision I ever made after marrying my husband! I had some minor complications immediately post-op with nausea but it was a reaction to the narcotic pain meds. I also have had reflux issues but I had that pre-surgery too. 2 Band2Sleever and Photo925 reacted to this
indecision 863 Posted March 24, 2014 Without question. So far no complications whatsoever... 1 Band2Sleever reacted to this
vogue 310 Posted March 24, 2014 (edited) I've had complications (structure) and a new hernia among other things but still would do it again. I'm sleeved as if Aug 2012 Edited March 24, 2014 by vogue
Andrew0929 1,101 Posted March 24, 2014 I'm not a vet but at 3.5 months out I'm down 98 pounds and off 8 of 9 meds. I had internal bleeding 5 days post op that required a second surgery. I regretted having surgery for about 1 month, but that changed quickly. I would definitely do it again even if I knew about the second surgery beforehand. 3 1Day1Life4Now, KeeWee and Band2Sleever reacted to this
1Day1Life4Now 882 Posted March 24, 2014 I'm only 6 weeks post-op but I would do it again in a heart beat. My only regret is not having it sooner. No complications and other than the first two weeks, a very uneventful recovery. I'm a sleever believer. :-) 1 Andrew0929 reacted to this
Bufflehead 6,358 Posted March 24, 2014 I've said it before and I'll say it again. I would have this surgery again every year for the rest of my life if I had to. No questions and no hesitation. I had zero complications from surgery. 2 Memily and Band2Sleever reacted to this
Georgia 2,908 Posted March 25, 2014 Since this is the Vets Forum, as moderator I'm going to move this to the General Gastric Sucess Stories where Vets can respond as well as non-Vets. Thanks.
joatsaint 2,814 Posted March 25, 2014 I can whole-heartedly say I'd do it all over again in a minute. Even knowing how much it was going to hurt afterwards, I'd do it again. My rating is a 1. I've had no long term complications. The only real problem I experienced was in the 1st 10 day post-op. The liquid pain medication made me gag so much that I couldn't drink it. So I just lived with the pain. And I went through the whole, "What the Hell did I do to myself?" phase. Would I do it all over again? Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! swizzly 901 Posted March 25, 2014 A little over three years out, I'd say 1 on complications and/or regret. I didn't have too many mental/emotional issues along the way either. Or maybe work has been so overwhelming, I've not had a chance to worry about anything else LOL. I'd do it over again for sure. I don't regret the timing, though, as it was the right choice for me, at the right time.
