ANYONE IN MARYLAND....Looking for ...

Recommended Posts

Hi all...

I know this may be a crazy question.. but I'm l looking for someone to stay with near Bethesda Maryland for 2 weeks post-op my surgery, I have to go to Walter Reed MTF Hospital to have my surgery done and have nowhere to stay for the 2 weeks that the doctors requires you to. I live in NJ and am 3 hrs away from MD. I am a 47 yr. old female , easy going, and would of course have my own food and transportation. I could pay you $100 per week. Anyone willing to have me as there company please respond and ask me any questions at all. Thanks ...Have a great day!!

PS, no date yet...prob around June

Wow! They require you to stay in Maryland for 2 weeks?! I'm going through the Walter Reed process now and didn't know that. I live in Dover, De and that would be very difficult.

  1. No I didn't have to stay afterall , the nurse had told me that and it really stressed me out. The surgeon didn't require that at all.

Thank you! I was concerned for a second being able to afford to stay somewhere there for a week. How was your process? I just went to the seminar last week. And going to my first out of 5 support group meetings tonight.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
