What is the best yogurt everyone has found? Has anyone tried ACTIVIA? I've seen several people say FAGE, what type, flavor? For the coffee lovers, When did you start back drinking coffee. I am a starbucks addict, I love the Caramel Machiatto. Haven't tried to drink one but the barista said that she could make one Decaf, no fat milk, sugar free Syrup. What are your thoughts? Has anyone tried muscle milk Protein drinks? I've been using the whey Protein powder but I think it doesn't agree with me too well. Sorry for all the questions.

Never apologize for questions! I like FAGE Greek yogurt, plain or vanilla. I also like the Yoplait 100 Greek Yogurts. I just try to find on that's easy on the sugars :)

I have tried the Muscle Milk drinks, and like them pretty much. But, I have a dairy and whey allergy, so I cannot have them every day. (I can tolerate Greek yogurts and some cheeses, but no milk.) So, I use GNC Pro Performance Egg Protein powder. My nut gave me high marks on this one when we discussed my need to find a non-whey based Protein Powder.

As for coffee...every doctor has a different idea of when/if you can add it back in. So, I would find out what your plan states. I had to ask/beg my doc to let me start it back just shy of 3 months post-op. Even then, it's not every day, and it's only one cup per day. But, that's my choice, not his.

Hope this helps a little. Good luck!

don't apologize, it's good to ask because someone else might have the same questions as you just don't ask or forget and then they see your post and they are glad to see what responses there are. I love greek yogurt, by chobani, I'm not fond of some of the flavors but I love the pineapple one and the strawberry banana. I also found Oikos Greek the traditional kind is really good, there isn't the fruit on the bottom that you stir in it's just all the same, they have a Toasted Coconut vanilla, that is OMG so yummy. As for coffee, I am 5 days post op and I just tried coffee for the first time this morning cause I love coffee, and it did not sit well, but I got a mocha coffee from dunkin and I think there is too much sugar in the mocha? I started feeling sick so I threw it away :( I like my whey Protein I get it at Walmart and I make mine with milk and it tastes so much better. I had gotten a chocolate w/peanut butter kind and didn't like that one so much, so I am just using the plain chocolate one, and hopefully that will be ok, I have never tried the muscle milk but a girl I work with she uses that sometimes and she likes it, so I don't know, I have plenty of time to test things now that my surgery is done and i can try out new remedies? Well good luck!!!

I also like the face greek yogurt. It's all about what you like, it's just best to chose a yogurt that is higher in Protein. I use Muscle Milk Light and I also use Body Fortress. I like the vanilla because I mix it with soy milk a frozen sugar free fruit. I'm a weirdo though, I never get tired of having the same Protein shake for Breakfast. Go figure! Most of the time your Dr. will give you samples. Oh, I use powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury too. They all taste the same to me. Again, I'm a weirdo! There are tons of recipes for Protein shakes online. Try this site out: http://bariatricfoodie.blogspot.com/p/favorite-recipes.html

Good Luck to you!

I was a premier Protein girl myself. High Protein, low calorie and taste was pretty good. I wasn't a fan of any of the muscle milks and if your going to use them use the light there is a big calorie and sugar difference.

Love all the Greek yogurts, when looking at them all I chose by higher protein value and lower calorie and sugar content since the hubs is diabetic and we are both banded.

As for Starbucks and coffee...

I have a cup of regular coffee a day, sometimes 2 then I switch fully to Decaf to get all the "water" values in for the day. I enjoy the warmth and flavor of coffee, it can be a bit acidic and if you have gerd or anything like that it can aggravate those symptoms.

If you don't then as long as you get the Water in, and stick to decaf you should be great.

Starbucks coffee...and flavors...there is a decaf skinny non fat, no sugar macchiato you can get and it's not bad at all. I limit it to a "treat" for myself since I have seen barrister's make mistakes and you end up with the 700 calorie drink and your supposed be eating only 800-1200 per day, makes you think!

For my morning coffee, and my night time decaf I like to use the international or coffee mate flavored Creamers. I get them in sugar free they are half the calories, I don't like the non fat ones.

Those who are sleeved or had a Gastric by-pass, sugar in any of those mocha drinks or even the fat content of the cream and cause dumping syndrome and upset stomach so probably best to avoid it all together.

Lapband does not react the same way.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
