Restriction

Recommended Posts

Had a fill two weeks ago. Seems like two weeks later I have more restriction than when I got it. Is that possible and how/why? I feel like I'm in a green zone. Can someone tell me how I will know?

I have had 4 fills over the past 5 months and now I'm too tight - and honestly each day is different for me. In hindsight I wish that I would have just spent some more time on my 3rd fill to understand life in the day with the lapband in the green zone - b/c I almost believe that I was there and then I went in for a 4th and I'm in agony now headed to docs this morning for an unfil with hopes that I'll get back to my 3rd fill self... so I hope that this rambling doesn't confuse you more - but honestly it's a personal thing this "green zone" - but if you can eat 1/2-1 cup of food and stay satisfied for 3-4 hours I think that you are close.

WARNING - you don't want to get over filled - take it from someone who is learning the horrible hard way :( oh - and not that this matters too much b/c we're all different but I have 8 ccs in my band presently and will likely go down to 7.5

Thank you for your advice. I'm a. 9.2cc in a 10cc band. I was a 9.6 and too had to have some removed. I think I'm just paranoid as I e not lost anything in three weeks. I'm just going back to the basics and see what happens. I'm close to goal (about 20lbs away) and have had people tell me that's the hardest to loose. I hope you hit your green spot when you see Dr today. :)

I don't know why it is, but it takes some time for the fill to be fully felt. For me it's about 2 months since my last fill and I feel tighter now then I did before.

I think it's a combination of many things, for me I was great about 2-3 weeks into the fill. Then I got sick. Post nasal and cough and that tends to fill you up with ick. My stress levels are on super high with about 101 things going on at home and at work so there is no real "safe" haven and I'm tense often. When I am tense my band is tighter, and if I eat anything of substance during that extreme tense time..well that only complicates matters and makes things worse and adds swelling to the problem after.

I thought about going in for a small un-fill but I am right at the point I want to be at in the green zone, and just need to take it easy when I know I'm under so much pressure.

I don't know why it is so..but it usually takes 2 weeks for the full affect of the fill to be felt. Maybe it's something to do with the body's reaction to the stimulus of the pressure....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
