Hello there! Depends on what kind of surgery you have, what kind of job you do, whether you have to walk, stand or lift on your job, and other things. I am 67 and had the sleeve. I was shopping for about 4 hours roughly 5 days after the sleeve and felt great. Lifting is a no-no for about a month I think. It can hurt you. Good luck.

I went back to work after a week but was on restrictions of not lifting over 10 pounds for a month.

I'm a vet tech, so pretty active job. Back part time after 1 week, full time after 2 weeks but had 20 pound lifting restriction for 3 weeks. First time I've missed work in 4 1/2 years, so it felt like forever to me :)

Went back to work 2 weeks later- enjoyed the two weeks. I probably could've gonna back the second week but I definitely got tired by early afternoon and laid down to rest, so it was good to take the full 2 weeks for me (I'm 29 years old).

Sleeved 3/20 and back to work 4/21. My job will not allow you to come back with ANY restrictions, so it will be at least 4weeks.

I'm a para so I have a pretty active job. My surgery was 2/20 and I took two weeks off. I still had a 15 lb lifting restriction for the first month.

I would suggest if you are covered, to take as much time off as you can. This is a completely new way of life and there are a few things you will need to get used to. The first couple of weeks are trying, but so worth it!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
