When I do shakes I use Atkins or the generic from Walmart. Both are much lower in calories. ~Mandy

I personally think any kind of nutrition shake needs to be icy cold to be drinkable. ~Mandy

Ensure, Boost, Glucerna have WAY tooooo much sugar in them.. check the carb counts.

I like the EAS Carbvantage shakes (chocolate is the best for me, followed by strawberry)

the Slim Fast LOW CARB shakes are ok... but like someone else that posted they must be over ice or blended with ice.

My favorite Protein shake is XS Protein Shake with Nutrilite.

They have 35 gms of Protein and they are the only shake that actually fill me up....most Protein shakes are just like Water to me. Even before being approved for the surgery, I was drinking them, and love them. They are a fast breakfast for me when I am on the run.

I am very happy with the huge 5lb. container of eas vanilla whey Protein Shake I got at BJ's for i think for 23.00 after the coupon they had for it. The container holds 75 servings and has 23 grams of Protein and 2 grams of carbs. I like the vanilla because I add a handful of frozen berries or whatever flavor to change the taste from time to time. Hope this helps!

I can't stomach many shakes at all. I bought the 3.5 oz. Protein viles. They have 45 grams of protein. I have one per day. Half in the morning and half in the afternoon/evening. I mix 1/2 the protein with equal amounts of Water. Tastes good.

Variety is key for me!! I like Atkins advantage, slimfast high Protein or the low carb, I have several Fruit Drinks that are high protein, and pink lemonade. A great hot chocolate too. But my all time favorite is a recipe for a Meal Replacement shake... (Kinnani Falls? brand pudding)

1 packet high protein pudding mix(27 grams)

1/2 cup low fat cottage cheese

1 cup Water

1 teaspoon low fat Peanut Butter

BLEND WELL add 1 cup crushed ice BLEND AGAIN!

It is like a reese's shake and is very filling for pre-op diet.LOVE IT!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
