Happened to me too, pretty normal as long as there's no blood in your stools. It happens cuz we removed the majority of our stomach so everything is in shock esp our digestive system. It'll get better :-)

Make sure you're drinking your fluids though cuz you can get dehydrated easily

If you are ever worried too you can always call the nurses for your doctor, they don't mind :-)

Get used to Constipation or diarrhea. I believe it will be one or the other the rest of my life.

liquids in liquids out as they say...

Have you tried milk yet? I got diarrhea after trying it after surgery. Now I can't tolerate milk (not even lactose free).

Just keep your liquids up and you'll be fine! Oddly enough I'd rather have diarrhea over Constipation.

I also had diahrea the 2nd and third day, nurse told me to never trust a fart(so true) it went away after day 4, this is day 6, low grade temp, no pain meds milk making me a little nauseous so Protein shakes and carnation Breakfast with milk not settling well. Needing a lot of rest but also 60 years old so waited a little late in life to do this, walking and sipping still the key. One of they lucky ones to sleep on my side as soon as I went home and didn't get a drain just 5 small incisions. Are you giving yourself shots to prevent blood clots. Go back to surgeon on the first so guess i'll be taking them until then at least, good thing they are pretty painless.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
