I got my surgery done last Wednesday

Got sleeved last Wednesday. Everything is going great except the amount of gases I retained. The gas don't go anywhere and it's extremely uncomfortable. Any suggestions as what to do to help release the gases?

I was this past Tuesday. The gas has settled in my left shoulder which is now more painful than my incisions. I find walking more tends to help and it's not as bad. My surgeon really just said TIME will heal the gases issue.

I'm not having shoulders or neck gas pain. My gas is in my abdomen. I can feel it and hear it moving but doesn't come out.

In all honestly, 1 sugar free dark Choc pudding helped move everything right along on day 2.

Does having a supplement like Gas-X help dissolve it?

Infant gas drops have helped me a lot. They have also told me to use gas-x. I don't think I will ever get rid of all the gas and I am almost 3 weeks out on surgery.

Walk more. Go for a 10 minute walk every hour even if it's just up and down the hallway

Heating pad is what helped me tremendously! I had one that was filled with some type of rice or something and heated in the microwave. But, a regular heating pad would work too. Just put it where it hurts and keep moving it from side to side. Mine was always very low on both sides. I even slept with mine! It helped so much! Good luck!!! And don't miss an opportunity to burp or pass gas, either... it really does help.

I was sleeved March 18 (5 days ago) and part of the process with the Bariatric unit was that all bariatric patients had to walk, even overnight. So you bet, the night of surgery at 12AM, 2AM, 4AM, etc, all bariatric patients were woken up to walk. And can I tell you, I am generally a gassy person regardless of surgery but the walking was the trick to get it out of my abdomen. I remember waking up after surgery with a gas pain in my side feeling as if I was being stuck with a sharp objetc. So I can only recommend you walk off the gas if you can. I am so so so surprised I am not experiencing any gas pain today, I mean I bought a ton of Gas-X pre-op to prepare me for post-op and I may have had 5 just as a precaution in the last 5 days. Good luck to you

I look forward to having more hummus, and I bet that is great with it being so thin and so full of Protein (and tasty!).

I would imagine it makes someone gassy however, being made of Beans.

Lay on your left side. You have less organs on your left side and it helps things process through. I have Crohn's disease, and whenever I get real gassy if I weigh on my left side it helps me burp and fart. Walking does absolute wonders it is the best thing for gas.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
