Did anyone else not do a full 2 week preop diet?

Recommended Posts

I was just told I had better not gain any weight before surgery or my surgeon wouldn't do it. I think, If I recall correctly, I lost 4 lbs in the few weeks prior to surgery.

I got the call Wednesday that I was approved and another call Friday to schedule. My preop stuff is a week away and the surgery a couple days after. Wow this is happening quickly. They told me that it is okay to not do the full 2 weeks of the diet but just to start the next day. Anyone else do this?

What's ur date?

My date is march 31. I'm taking off next week and then the following week is spring break.

My date is also March 31. :)

Are you ready?

That is fast almost lightening fast. Sending skinny vibes ur way. When we heal up some may we can walk the trails or stone mountain together. Keep me posted how ur doing and I will do the same.

I’m not looking forward to the liquid diet at all – too bad they couldn’t give up appetite suppressants.

Don't want to be grumpy to my family before a major surgery....

I just decided to keep very busy during this 2 weeks and I know my family will understand. My husband and son are in to bodybuilding and they have warned me about the first few days. I am determined to stay positive. :)

I am Monday too! My pre-op was two shakes daily and a high Protein low fat meal. I know it is not nearly as strict as some, but today I was HANGRY! LOL! One day to go! Good luck everybody! See you on the other side!

My pre-op diet was only 3 days. I was at home for one week from work, but was able to log in from home a couple of those days. I felt fine, but would then get very tired. I called it nap attacks. I had a post-op drain for one week and chose to stay home while I had this in place.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
