You could experiment with some scrambles. Add some 2% cheese, turkey sausage crumbles, spinach, peppers, etc. I'm not very creative so I struggle with breakfast too.

No reason you can't have dinner for breakfast! I've had tuna fish salad, pureed Soups, miso-egg-drop Soup. Maybe Beans? tofu smoothies? chicken salad?

Egg Muffins:

Spray 6 muffin tins

Beat/whisk 6 eggs

Pour evenly between 6 tins

Divide 1/4 cup of precooked turkey sausage crumbles or diced ham into tins

Divide 1/4 cup Fat free cheddar

Divide 1/4 cup shredded parmesan

Add anything that sounds good. We do mushrooms, olives. You can do diced tomatoes, spinach, etc.

Cook on 350 until Muffins puff up and tops get light brown.

Take out and let sit for a bit.

I like to make a double batch and put them in the fridge. Take out in the morning and microwave for about 40 seconds. Put a few dabs of hot sauce and you have easy breakfast in the morning! They come to around 100 calories each. Maybe a little more depending on what you add.

I usually have a romaine lettuce wrap - take a big leaf of lettuce and fill it up with hot sirloin, garlic mustard and pickle relish; or maybe chicken warmed up with some red pepper sauce, tuna salad, or deli turkey with a melted laughing cow cheese.< /p>

The sirloin version is about 75 calories, 2 carbs, and 13 grams of Protein. Very filling and delicious!

Thanks to Cindy for the tip :)

I mix 3/4 cup Kellog's Protein cereal with Dannon's Light and Fit Greek vanilla yogurt. It's 200 calories and 22 grams of protein. It's delicious and filling.

My " cheesecake" recipe....

1 cup ricotta ( fat free or low fat)

1 egg

2 tbl sugar free Torani vanilla Syrup (or to taste)

1/2 tsp lemon peel grated

1/2 cup blueberries or other berries

Mix together. Put in 2 mugs. Cover with plastic. Microwave for 1 minute or until set when you shake it. Let cool 5-10 min and eat or refrigerate. Makes 2 servings. Very high Protein. Fast and yummy.

I dont seem to do well 1st thing in the am with typical breakfast foods, but I have to eat something to wake up my stomach. About an hour after a cup of hot tea I have Belvita breakfast biscuits ( 19 grams Protein, 230 cals, costco, Walmart , or any grocery store , in the cookie aisle, the cinnamon brown sugar are the best!) , later I might have a few almonds or Sommersaults, a sunflower seed snack, or a little turkey Jerky.

Sorry, that was supposed to be 19 grams whole grain, and 4 grams Protein for the Belvitas.

Just a little update: today I made the muffins with Reynolds foil muffin wraps. I still sprayed them with Pam. Worked out perfectly and a lot less mess to clean.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
