Was hospitalized in Nov for low Protein and d/c after being told to eat more protein bars and shakes? !?! I can't keep down a cup of sherbet or a 1/2 cup salad without throwing up!! Along with the vomiting comes killer headaches. Some meals I'm good but at least once a day a meal or snack comes up! Please any advice would be great!! Do I get a second opinion? Racheepoo99 33 Posted March 22, 2014 R u eating really slow? If I eat too fast or take too big of a bite I will puke. Or if its been a long time since I ate I will then eat too fast and get sick. I try to eat every couple hours. Just a little bit of food. Anything fried, spicy, cake all that makes me puke. I can only eat healthy foods. I am also lactose intolerent now too. amayzme 15 Posted March 22, 2014 Usually it's after I haven't eaten in a while like when I get off work etc When i wait to long to eat...i am also guilty of bites too big or to many bites not well chewed and to taken to fast. I am only into my 12th week and its a learning curve...but well worth it. Trying to learn to take a bite or two every couple of hours helps. But i still can't sit for 30 to 40 minutes and make a " meal" last...i don't have am attention span that long! LOL.
ebelanger 2 Posted March 22, 2014 Lol I don't have the patience either but I think that needs to be the next step. Planning a writing out my meal/ snack regimen. Might help keep a bite up every hour rather than grabbing what I can when I finally can

kgoden 0 Posted March 28, 2014 I have the same problem when I get too hungry and then eat too fast. I also agree that it is hard to sit for 30 min to finish a couple of ounces of food. So, I plan working around the house while taking bites. I bring my lunch to the computer or clean the kitchen and take a bite while working. I also found some metal appetizer spoons and forks that help me take smaller bites. dinner with my husband or out with other people is sometimes easier because I talk and let them eat. Before I leave for the restaurant, I find myself doing research on a current topic so I have something to talk about that might be of interest while they chew and I fill in the silence between my bites. If I forget and eat too fast; however,I am in the restaurant bathroom loosing my dinner. I must say it is a "quiet/ easy" elimination--more like it never went down. The doctor warned me that when I felt a "slimmy" sensation in my mouth, I was sure to lose what I was eating--this is when it is time to head for the bathroom. I guess we all just need to adjust to a slower mode of eating and chew, chew, chew. In the end, it is worth it--down 48 pounds since 12/27/14. Wondering if those of you who are a year or so out of surgery find that it gets easier??
